Meta to layoff about 20 percent Irish workforce

Meta is expected to lay off 490 people at its international headquarters in Dublin, representing over 20% of its Irish employees.

This is part of the 10,000 global layoffs announced in March, according to the social media business on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Facebook parent Meta began the final round of global layoffs.

Finance, sales, marketing, analytics, operations, and engineering are among the positions affected in Dublin, which has 2,500 full-time staff.

Meta laid off 320 Irish employees in an initial wave of global layoffs in November, and the ultimate number of redundancies in this round will be subject to collective bargaining.
