Apple seeks Thailand partnership over MacBook production

Apple is in discussions with suppliers to manufacture MacBooks in Thailand.

This is a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its manufacturing presence beyond China.

Sources familiar with the discussion stated there are existing manufacturing facilities in Thailand for other clients and are exploring possible assembly and production of components and modules for MacBooks.

According to the claim, Apple has also been mass-producing the Apple Watch in Thailand for more than a year.

Apple and its main suppliers have shifted production away from China, where severe COVID-19 restrictions interrupted Foxconn’s largest iPhone facility last year.

Apple is also attempting to avoid a negative impact on its business as a result of tensions between Beijing and Washington.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported on Thursday that Apple has increased its iPhone production in India, assembling more than $7 billion in devices in the country in the previous year.

According to the report, Apple now manufactures about 7% of its iPhones in India, a leap from 1% in 2021.
