Major player in technology, Apple, has revealed the recipients of the 2022 App Store Awards.
The awards, chosen by the international Apple Store editorial team, highlight 16 apps and games that the company claims inspired people to interact with the world more intimately, maintain relationships with friends and family, and broaden their horizons.
In a statement, Apple CEO, Tim Cook said: “From self-taught solo creators to international teams spanning the globe, these entrepreneurs are making a meaningful impact, and represent the ways in which apps and games influence our communities and lives.”
BeReal, a well-known social app that was parodied on “Saturday Night Live” earlier in the year, won the iPhone app of the year award.
The best iPad app of the year was GoodNotes 5, while the best Mac app of the year went to MacFamilyTree 10, ViX won best Apple TV app of the year, and Gentler Stories LLC won best Apple Watch app.
Apple Pencil support is included in GoodNotes 5, MacFamilyTree 10 examines genealogy, Gentler Streak is a fitness tracker, and ViX enriches storytelling in Spanish.
For gaming, Moncage’s puzzles play with perspective on the iPad, and Apex Legends Mobile’s fast-paced hit battle royal game takes the action to the iPhone.
El Hijo is a game with a Wild West theme, while Inscryption, the Mac game of the year, draws players in with experimental storytelling.
The Apple Arcade Game of the Year is Wylde Flowers, while the China Game of the Year is League of Legends Esports Manager.
Accordingly, the editors chose five winners for cultural effect.
These include the hydration app Waterllama, the daily check-in app How We Feel, the mythical and historical adventure app Inua, and the live photo app Locket Widget.

Apple also revealed that a prize modeled after the blue App Store icon will be presented to each winner.
