Intel hits milestone with release of 4th-generation Xeon processor

Intel hits milestone with release of 4th-generation Xeon processor
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Telegram

Intel Corporation has launched the 4th-Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, Intel Xeon CPU Max Series, and Intel Data Center GPU Max Series in an effort to elevate the business to the forefront of the processor market against severe competition.

The devices are a significant accomplishment for this chip manufacturer with a workload-first design that is likely to solidify its position as the industry leader.

The 4th Gen Xeon Scalable CPU, code-named Sapphire Rapids, is intended to address computing difficulties at scale with integrated accelerators that are optimized for particular workloads and provide better performance at higher efficiency for an ideal total cost of ownership.

For specific workloads when using built-in accelerators, it provides 2.9x average performance per watt efficiency boost over prior generations.

It is also Intel’s most environmentally friendly data center processor, saving up to 70 watts of power per CPU in optimal power mode while sacrificing little to no performance for a few specific workloads and having a 52% to 66% lower TCO.

For demanding computing workloads, the Xeon processor and the Intel Max Series product line merge CPU and GPU with oneAPI’s open software environment, allowing users to tackle the most difficult issues in the world.

According to reports, the only x86-based processor with high bandwidth memory that increases computing speed without requiring code changes is the Xeon CPU Max Series.

The Data Center GPU Max Series tackles difficult workloads like physics, financial services, and life sciences with more than 100 billion transistors packed into a 47-tile footprint.

The 13th-Generation Intel Core Processor was introduced by Intel in September 2022.

The fastest desktop CPU, the Core i9-13900K, also known as Raptor Lake, is said to have a top speed of 5.8 GHz and has 24 processing cores, divided into eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores.

According to corporate standards, the chip provides up to 15% greater single-threaded performance and up to 41% better multi-threaded performance by utilizing Intel 7 process and x86 performance hybrid architecture.
