Cash App founder's killer faces life sentence

Prosecutors have stated that the stabbing of the Cash App founder, Bob Lee was a planned and deliberate attack.

According to court filings, Nima Momeni confronted Lee, whom he had known for almost a decade, and they argued about Momeni’s sister before driving him to a “dark and secluded area” of San Francisco in what was believed to be a “planned and deliberate attack.”

Lee was stabbed three times in the hip and twice in the chest with a kitchen knife.
According to Ellen Moffatt, who did the autopsy, one of the chest stab wounds immediately impacted his heart, resulting in his death.

“Defendant did not use some type of pocket knife, but a cooking knife from a flat and kitchen,” Omid Talai, the assistant District Attorney said.

According to the motion, Momeni threw the knife away after the attack and departed the area in his BMW at “high speed,” leaving the victim to “slowly die.”

Momeni was detained on Thursday by the San Francisco Police Department, who recovered a four-inch knife at the site.

He was due to be arraigned on a murder charge in a San Francisco court on Friday, but he did not enter a plea after the hearing was postponed until April 25.

Momeni did not speak during the proceedings, except to briefly respond to a question from Judge Christine Van Aken, who presided over the proceedings.

The San Francisco District Attorney submitted a nine-page motion to detain Momeni, 38, citing security video and statements from a friend who was present with Lee before he died.

Momeni was ordered detained without bail by the judge. If convicted, he may face a sentence of 26 years to life in prison, according to District Attorney Brooke Jenkins’ office, according to the news agency.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Momeni portrays himself as an “IT Consultant/Entrepreneur” and the owner of Expand IT.
