China slams US over TikTok ban

Five US tiktokers file lawsuit to stop Montana TikTok ban

The Chinese government has reacted to the ordeals of the Chinese-owned app, TikTok, in the United States.

TikTok is facing issues of national security in the United States, with Republican lawmakers threatening to ban the app in the country, which has amassed 150 million users.

Last Thursday, TikTok CEO, Chew appeared before the US Congress to answer questions on the future of the short-video app in the country.

The US has presumed TikTok guilty of threatening national security without presenting any evidence that backs up their claim, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday in response to the bill to ban TikTok.

“U.S. should respect fair competition, and stop suppressing foreign companies,” Mao said while answering a question about U.S. lawmakers’ move to ban TikTok.
