Bard: Five features of Google’s chatGPT-like AI chatbot

Google updates AI Chatbot Bard to write, debug code

Tech giant, Google is set to launch an artificial intelligence chatbox, Bard that would rival Open AI’s ChatGPT

The conversational AI service is powered by Language Model for Dialogue Applications and seeks to provide to better services for users and developers alike.

ChatGPT has been the favourite of internet users and has crossed 100M users after its launch in November 2022.

Here are five features of Bard AI that you should know

Integration with Google search

Bard would be integrated into Google’s search engine. This means that the chatbox would be side by side with Google Chrome for better search results.

“Soon, you’ll see AI-powered features in Search that distil complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the web: whether that’s seeking out additional perspectives, like blogs from people who play both piano and guitar, or going deeper on a related topic, like steps to get started as a beginner.” Google CEO, Pichai said

However, Pichai doesn’t provide a specific timeline for the integration, it’s conceivable that this will happen very close to the public launch.

Internet access and server outages

Since the launch of ChatGPT, the AI has witnessed many amounts of usage that have led to several outages.
It seems we won’t be experiencing outages with Google’s bard. The company states Bard will be running on a smaller and lightweight version of the Language Model for Dialogue Applications

“We’ll combine external feedback with our internal testing to ensure Bard’s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information. We’re excited about this phase of testing to help us continue to learn and improve Bard’s quality and speed” Pichai said.

Better information

Google described Bard as a “conversational AI service” that combines the depth of the world’s information with the power, intelligence, and creativity of its large language models to help deliver answers to inquiries.
A key difference between Bard and ChatGPT is that Bard is capable of providing information on recent events, while ChatGPT is unable to comment on events later than 2021.
However, it’s also not clear if Bard will be as powerful as ChatGPT in terms of the breadth and depth of responses that individuals can make out of it.

For developers

Google’s CEO also added that from March 2023, Google would start onboarding individual developers, creators, and enterprises to build innovative applications with its Generative language API. It will be initially powered by LaMDA, and it will add other models too.
Apart from Bard, Google’s models, like PaLM (Utility AI), Imagen (Image generation), and MusicLM (Music generation), will soon be available for developers. Bard, innovative entrepreneurs, and startups can do much more.

Direct competition against ChatGPT

Google’s Bard seems to be a direct response to ChatGPT. The company has long been known for innovative AI solutions that are tailored to diverse kinds of experiences. The distinctive features of the Pixel phones, for instance, are powered by AI. It brings this cutting-edge AI to its other products like Search, Adsense, and YouTube.

Google’s ad revenue, nosedived by 3.6% as it missed earnings expectations in 2022 and with the astronomic rise of ChatGPT, Google is under pressure to provide competition Bard seems to be that competition
