International Business Machines has disclosed that the company will cease hiring for roles since around 7,800 employees could be displaced by Artificial Intelligence in the next years.
The CEO Arvind Krishna, stated this to Bloomberg News, stating recruiting in back-office services such as human resources would be delayed or slowed, with 30% of non-customer-facing roles potentially being replaced by AI and automation within five years.
His remark comes at a time when AI has captured the attention of people all across the world, following the November launch of OpenAI’s viral chatbot, ChatGPT.
According to the PC manufacturer, the cut might include not filling posts abandoned by loss.
