Nigerian women are doing amazing work in the technological space, breaking the status quo and shattering the glass ceiling, and excelling in their respective areas.
In celebrating International Women’s Day, we highlight the works of seven Nigerian women in tech who are shattering glass ceilings in the Nigerian tech ecosystem.
Adora Nwodo
She works as a software engineer for Microsoft, where she creates high-value experiences for mixed reality and artificial intelligence on the cloud.
She is also a founding member of unStack Africa, a meetup for open-source software engineers.
Adora is a first-class University of Lagos, Nigeria, computer science graduate. With Neukleos, she began her career in software development as an intern in 2016.
In 2019, Adora was a co-founder of unStack and an associate software developer at Neukleos. She established her YouTube channel AdoraHack in the same year, where she posts material pertinent to the community of software engineers.
Layo Ogunbanwo
She is the VP of Product at Piggyvest, Nigeria’s foremost fintech.
Ifeoluwa Dare-Johnson
Ifeoluwa Dare-Johnson is the CEO of Healthtracka, a health tech business that uses at-home testing to decentralize access to medical diagnostics in Africa.
Healthtracka provides health screening tests and makes sure that test outcomes are thoroughly examined, accurately verified by medical experts, and made available to clients within 48 hours.
Five months after joining the Techstars Toronto accelerator program in October 2021, the company recently earned $1.5 million in seed capital.
Ire Aderinokun
Ire is the Co-founder, COO, and VP of Engineering Helicarrier (Buycoins). She is also a front-end developer and a Google developer expert. She is Nigeria’s first female Google Developer Expert.
Honey Ogundeyi
In May 2021, Honey Ogundeyi founded Edukoya, an exam preparation tool designed to ensure that students appropriately prepare for their exams.
Edukoya has raised 3.5 million dollars in pre-seed funding, the most ever for a female-led firm in the edutech industry.
She earlier served as Kuda’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Ada Nduka Oyom
Ada is the brain behind She Code Africa and the manager of Google’s Developer Relations.
She Code Africa is her method of giving back, as it is an Organisation that assists girls and women in Africa learn technological skills.
She had roles and positions in Interswitch and other tech companies because to her abilities and competence.
Seun Runsewe
Beginning her career at KPMG as a management consultant, Seun oversaw the well-liked Project Africa and oversaw the beta-launch of Switch by Sterling bank.
She formerly served as the business lead at Paystack before joining Sterling Bank. She has advanced quickly and is now in charge of product management at Chipper Cash after previously serving as director of product at Opay and vice-president of growth at Softcom.
