Twitter introduces 'half ads' feature for verified users

Twitter is rolling out new features for Blue subscribers, such as showing 50% more ads in their timeline than non-paid users and increasing search visibility.

Elon Musk had long promised that Twitter Blue subscribers would receive a feature that would allow them to see fewer sponsored tweets. The feature has now been implemented by the company and will be available on the “Following” and “For You” timelines.

“As you scroll, you will see approximately twice as many organic or non-promoted Tweets placed in between promoted Tweets or ads. There may be times when there are more or fewer non-promoted Tweets between promoted Tweets,” according to Twitter’s feature description.

This feature does not apply to ads displayed on the profile or in replies, promoted accounts and trends, or promoted events on the Explore page, according to the social network.

Twitter also stated that the half-ads feature will be available only after a subscriber’s profile has been reviewed and verified.

While Twitter claims to reduce ads in paid subscribers’ feeds, it is difficult to prove that they are seeing fewer ads apart from anecdotal evidence.

Musk also stated last year that Twitter was considering introducing a more expensive paid tier with no advertisements.
