Tesla CEO and the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has reiterated the need for continued efforts to raise oil and gas exploration in the world.

Musk stated this while speaking at a conference in Norway on Monday, according to Forbes.

Reuters reported that Musk argued that civilization will crumble if the world stops the use of oil and natural gas and thus called for continued drilling and exploration of fossil fuel sources.

“Realistically I think we need to use oil and gas in the short term because otherwise, civilization will crumble,” he said.

The billionaire suggested that the transition to green energy sources will take decades and that fossil fuels will be needed in the meantime.

It would also be recalled that Elon Musk called for increased nuclear power generation and attacked environmentalists who oppose nuclear plants as “anti-human”.

He has been previously noted for advocating renewable energy sources.
