Tech giant Google on Tuesday opened applications for the Google Startup Accelerator: Women Founders Africa Program.

Its program is the first of its kind and focused on empowering and supporting women female who are solving African problems and equipping them with resources and opportunities to scale up their startups.

“We are excited about the open call for applications for our 3-month accelerator program, specifically tailored to address the unique challenges faced by women founders in Africa.”

“We believe that investing in women founders in Africa is critical for economic empowerment that will enable the creation of jobs for the growing African youth population.”

Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa at Google, said, at the launch about the benefits of the program to African women.

The Google for Startups Accelerator Women Founders Africa Program is an extension of the 2017 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program. It underscores Google’s commitment to assisting companies and solving the problems that African women entrepreneurs confront.

The initiative is available to female founders who are developing technology in or for Africa. These entrepreneurs must also have a working product or service, a credible business plan, and a working team to be eligible for the program.

The 12-week program will begin in March 2023 and will feature one monthly hybrid boot camp. A written application and an interview with the program team are required as part of the application process.

The program provides numerous benefits. Selected participants will also get access to Google’s products, resources, tools, and technology, as well as connections with investors to help their firms grow, as well as the opportunity to network with industry leaders.

The women founders will also be mentored by industry experts, who will advise and help the selected participants throughout the program. They will be critical in aiding startups in reaching their full potential and making a positive impact in their communities.
