Italy has disclosed that the Italian Industry Ministry’s website and applications got attacked by a “heavy cyberattack” on Friday.
Technicians were attempting to “mitigate the consequences” of the attack, the ministry said in a statement, adding that preliminary investigations revealed no evidence of data theft.
It was too early to say when things would return to normal, it said. The attack began in the early hours of the morning.
The ministry stated that it was working closely with the National Cybersecurity Agency to minimise inconvenience to citizens and companies.
